Description
Moving efficiently to an IP based methodology and flow requires legacy IP libraries to be captured in a technology independent format with an easy-to-use, scalable and automated process. Magillem IP Packager automatically creates an IP-XACT certified description for any VHDL, Verilog or SystemC component using a non-intrusive technology to your existing flow. The packager scalability also enables to automatically import libraries of legacy component, and its high level of modularity allows to deal with any client directory structure and to handle various customer specific information.
Features
As a major Contributing Member of the Spirit Consortium, Magillem has a proven experience with the IP-XACT usage. Magillem IP Packager can target any IP-XACT version:
- Legacy IP-XACT versions: 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2;
- Current 1.4 version;
- Support: IP-XACT IEEE1685 standard.
Magillem Packager relies on the Magillem Compliance Checkers Suite that guarantees the validity of generated files against IP-XACT grammar, semantics and the Spirit Consortium guidelines. Magillem Packager is able to abstract file from the following format:
- VHDL: ’87, ’93.
- Verilog: ’95, ’01, ’05.
- SystemC: 1.x, 2.x, TLM 1.x, TLM 2.x.
The following language extensions are also supported, with Magillem AMS Solution:
- VHDL-AMS
- Verilog-AMS
- SystemC-AMS :draft 1.0.

User Case
IP based methodology and flow requires very close interaction and synchronization between the different parties involved (IP providers, tool vendors, integrators and end users) to be truly effective, especially when all of them are located in different sites in the world and different timezones.
An electronic databook, based on a technology independent and human readable format (such as IP-XACT), can serve as the central and shared information location, while still allowing to reuse all legacy information by making reference on it (for example source files, documentation…).
